Job Description/Expectations/Key Functions:

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities for the following:

  • Grind, swage, and shape band saws, round saws, and chipper knives.
  • Clean, mill, and set saw guides.
  • Bench band and round saws.
  • Ability to tip round and band saws and pour babbit guides
  • Perform maintenance on grinders, side grinders, tipper, and milling equipment
  • Grind bandmills
  • Line up headrigs and rotary gangs
  • Troubleshoot saw issues such as lumber marking or off size lumber

 

Requirements:

  • An understanding of sawmill manufacturing operations with a priority on working safely.
  • Must be willing and have the aptitude to learn all filing room tasks and change all saws and canter knives.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand for extended periods of time
  • Practice good house keeping.
  • Must supply some of your own tools.
  • Overtime may be required, as well as periodically working different shifts.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to be flexible, work in a changing environment, and work as part of a highly functional team.
  • Knowledge and understanding of sawmill manufacturing processes, electricity, hydraulics, and mechanics.

  • Assist customers with telephone sales or service inquiries and provide sales and marketing communication with other sales associates, customers and vendors.

Ideal candidate will have three to five years of experience in an industrial manufacturing facility. JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Capable and proficient with reading/understanding blueprints, diagrams or schematics – able to interpret and apply National Electrical Code (NEC)

Description:

  • Lead employees to safely meet production goals
  • Be able to learn and train employees in JSA’s and SOP’s and safety policies to assure adherence to the NWH safety program
  • Schedule stacker and piledown lines to keep green, dry and finished lumber inventories in balance
  • Be able to learn and be proficient at Lumbertrack system to complete work orders, enter and monitor shipments
  • Manage the finished lumber inventory, keeping lumber organized and building loads to ship in a timely manner
  • Work closely with quality control, shipping and kiln supervisors

 

Skills/requirements:

  • Have good communication skills, working closely with manager and other supervisors
  • Have basic skills in email, MS Word and MS Excel
  • Extended hours, including weekend shifts, may be required based on sawmill hours and lumber inventories
  • Be able to learn to operate forklift

We are seeking an individual who has the qualifications, interest, and desire to join our Timber Department to conduct Log Sales, at our Marienville, PA division.

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

  • In conjunction with the Resource Manager, coordinate and implement all aspects of the log sale program.
  • Oversee Log Sale Yard staff and direct daily operations of the Log Sale Yard.
  • Evaluate, prepare and sort incoming tree length logs for marketing or for the sawmill.
  • Schedule, prepare and conduct veneer sales with existing customers.
  • Prepare export saw log loads and coordinate saw log sales with multiple existing customers.
  • Schedule Phyto inspections with the USDA inspector.
  • Oversee loading of containers and provide necessary documentation to customers.

 

The Requirements:

 

  • Personality: Upbeat, energetic personality encouraged!
  • Communications: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Multi-tasking & Follow-through: The ability to keep track of multiple priorities and tasks, and see them through to completion is crucial.
  • Valid driver’s license.

 

Education:
